The Necchi brand is Italian pride in the field of sewing machine production. A story that has its roots in the nineteenth-century province of Pavia, the century in which Ambrogio Necchi became an important entrepreneur in the field of the steel industry. The entry into the sewing machine market is due to his son, Vittorio Necchi, who in 1919, having returned from the front of the First World War, was inspired by his wife’s desire to have a sewing machine. Vittorio therefore decided to try his hand at production himself, partly using the cast iron produced by the family foundries.

Thus was born the first sewing machine entirely made in Italy (the “BD” model) and the first factory in the sector in Italian territory. A sometimes crazy undertaking, if you think about the incredible competition represented by the big German and American brands that already dominated the market. What initially seemed like a gamble, instead became a great entrepreneurial success story. An all-Italian story of technique, industriousness, style and innovation.
